Project Description
Second Place – Makran Free Zone Tollgate Competition
Our proposal for the Makran Free Zone Tollgate, awarded second place, embodies the dual identity of its site. One elevation addresses the free zone with a distinctly industrial façade, while the opposite side engages the city with a more urban character. This duality positions the tollgate as a transitional threshold—bridging two contrasting contexts and mediating between their spatial, cultural, and functional sensibilities.
The structure provides a generously shaded area, a critical response to Makran’s hot, arid climate. A striking triangular glass façade anchors the design, offering clear sightlines for management to monitor all vehicular movement. This element ensures operational efficiency while asserting a bold architectural presence.
